Dandruff

Not sure if this is the right place for this but.... One of my devons has dandruff, mainly noticeable after he's had a good brush or scratch. It doesn't bother him, but I was wondering if there was anything I could use to help. He's not bathed so shampoo is not an option.

  • our devs dont like being too wet but we use a simple baby shampoo to smoothe them over with a sponge also use basic baby talc - well our vets think if its fine for human babies soft bottoms and underbellies then .... it does seem to suit their coats if this helps? ps do you do them special diets? we are still beginners with the devons and si rexes, so lots to learn about things ike their skin and coat care...
  • I changed my Bella's food to a higher quality and found her dandruff disappeared. Might/might not work for your litle one.
  • Thanks every one. They do have a variety of food & I know that Miki prefers the kidneys, but did wonder about diet. They have roo mince, lamb kidneys, Fancy Feast or Dine, Royal Canin Indoor & Science Diet Oral Care.

Miki is the only one that has the problem & I only notice it when he has a Zoomie or a back scratch. The others are fine.

I hadn't thought of dry shampoo Penny. That might be worth a try.
  • give them plenty of fish in oil to eat. when we have tinned tuna in oil we drain the oil and let the cats have it .

  • I did try Omega 3 chicken flavoured tablets, but don;t think I was consistent enough. He's not keen on fish but I'll try fish oil on his food.
