Hybrid/Variant

Does anyone have a Devon Rex Hybrid/Variant? Do they have the personality of a Devon Rex...what is the shedding like..is it lessened at all than a regular cat? Pics would be awesome!

  • I have a devon rex variant, he is 7 months old now and he does shed a lot less then a normal household cat. His dad is a European shorthair. His character looks a lot like a Devon Rex, although I do feel a full devon is just a little bit more easier to handle, for example, I can walk down the stairs with two devons under each arm without any troubles, but when I did the same with Fred, he did freaked out a bit..lol
He is as playfull as my devons, likes to cuddle and is a real talker, not a shoulder rider though
  • Thanks for replying so quickly! Do you have any picture of Fred?
  • Here's a picture of Fred, it is an older one, I should really make some new ones soon!

  • Oh yes you can see the Devon in him for sure...hes a cutie pie! Thanks for the pic!

  • Hi Dawn,

I have a variant litter at the moment: 4 straighthairs & 1 curlyhair.
Their dad is a Devon variant (Devon x Asian) and their mum a Devon Rex girl.
Dad has a smooth glossly darkbrown smooth coat and sheds a little bit. His kitts probably will get a similar coat.
Please checkout my website : www.boonland.nl, kittens and/or offspring (Fred's litter is called The Flintstones)
Here is Fife, riding my husband's shoulder. This litter are all lapcats, cuddles and follow me all over the place.
Are you thinking about outcrossing yourself?

  • I have a Devon Rex variant. She's 50% British Shorthair. She definately has the temperment and personality of a Devon Rex. A lovely, social, energetic putting machine. She sheds more than her mother and my young male but not more than her grandmother (who's 100% Devon Rex).
  • Do you have pictures of her? I am very curious how she looks, since I am planning to do a simulair outcross myself.
LOL... and I do recognize, my white devon also sheds a lot more then my outcross boySmile.gif

  • Yes, I have pictures... in the camera. I'm gonna try to find time and do something about that. It's time to update my website.
