So, is loving to be chased a Devon thing?

It seems to be my girl's favorite game.  She's so fearless, she loves to run at ya, then away, be chased, stomped after (the stomping is required, it's how she knows the humans are cooperating with her invitation)  Spins around, tail up, back up, mock attacks, runs, waits, runs again.  Gets up on her tree, down and around again.   She gets annoyed if you stop before she's done.  I've never had a cat enjoy such a thing before?

  • My Baggins loved being chased when he was younger. A friend of ours used to chase him around the house and as you say, if he stopped before Baggins was done he'd let him know. He is 12 now so not quite as athletic as he was but there are times when he still enjoys a little chase down the hallway.

are strictly indoor cats, we always have to catch Tigger and make sure he is secured, when friends come to call. He has made this a game. He runs around the house and we have to chase him til we catch him:-)

He also chases us, stalks and taps us like we were playing a game of tag.:-)  They are a fascinating breed and continue to amuse and entertain us. :-) Grin.gifSmile.gif

  • Good to know it's a known behavior and not just totally nuts. Grin.gif

  • Hi CJSmile.gifSmile.gif

Not only is it totally normal for the Devon to behave this way, but they tend to get bored easily , so you want to have all kinds of things for them to amuse themselves. My friend from Aussie sent Tigger a crinkle tunnel , this track with balls that they keep hitting. The latest thing is a Frolic cat laser toy that has a timer on it. They love to wrestle with stuffed animals, squeaking mice, etc...

This is our second Devon and we have never had cats like this breed . They are more like monkeys in their behavior, and they will tell you in their own chirps what they want. There is another great toy called Cat's Meow that is an interactive toy that has a tail sticking out that they go nuts for. Right now it is not available in Australia. Hope it is soon.Smile.gif113.gif

  • Moo loves being chased. His ears go back and his tail goes frizzy but you can tell he is absolutely loving it.

Those big eyes look like big black saucers! Haha
  • Our babies are a constant source of amusement. My Smudge loves to play hide and seek with my son and I  chasing each other and hiding in different rooms it certainly keeps us all fit and healthy . I am sure visitors think we are all crazy!!!!Grin.gif

  • Oh yes, Bes and I have our game....she will stroll in front of me, I have to yell  "I'm gonna get the Finklestein" and she will bolt to one of two places, a small seat in the kitchen, or the cat tower where she waits for me to come and "get" her with pats and she is the happiest cat in the world. She doesn't do it with her dad, it's our game.

  • That is adorbs.Smile.gif

  • Strummer loves it! He jumps on us and then takes off (that's his sign that the games need to begin). Craig won't chase him, but I do. I run after him and he ducks under the chairs, up the stairs, around the cat tree, etc. After I chase him for a bit, I turn around and run away and hide in the kitchen. He runs after me, slides across the floor, does a 360 spin and then takes off the other direction. I actually think I have more fun than he does.

  • Our younger kitten Winnie LOVES chasing and being chased! We humans are too slow for her and don't interest her much, but she loves tearing around the house at break neck speeds with her older brother. It's hilarious to watch! They do it every day!
